What is well of sorrows?

The Well of Sorrows is a magical pool located within the Temple of Mythal in the Emerald Graves region of Thedas. It is believed to hold vast knowledge and information about the elven civilization that once lived in Thedas. The Well is guarded by powerful magical guardians and can only be reached with the use of a special key. Those who drink from the Well gain immense knowledge and power but are also marked by the spirits of the temple and may become possessed by them. The Well is a major plot point in the video game Dragon Age: Inquisition, where the player character can choose to drink from it or destroy it.
